You can explore the highlights of the region “Canavese” from a very beautiful hotel. Historic castles are on your way and natural lakes invite for a swim. In the vineyards along the “Strada Reale dei Vini”, the royal wine route, you can taste or buy good wine. You also follow the traces of the Franciscans on their way to Rome. So you will have a variety holiday in this unknown region. After this trip you will agree – it is truly an insider tip!

The hotel is located in the centre of the medieval village Romano Canavese near Turin. The Villa, surrounded with its own park, was built in the 18th century. You can adjourn to numerous places, where you can find silence and relaxation. Only 7 years ago the Villa was changed in a hotel by the owning family. All rooms are equipped stylish and with big bathrooms. Also the lounge of the hotel is charming and luxury with the original furniture of former times. The old horse stable is now an excellent Restaurant offering a light and typical cuisine of Piedmont. To make your stay more variety, you can use the pool, sauna, stream bath and also a tennis court of the hotel. In combination with a friendly and attentive staff you will have a successful stay!

Day by day

Day 1: Individual arrival to Romano Canavese
Handing out of travel documents and rental bikes through an employee of the hotel. Enjoy your welcome- “Aperitivo” in the inviting hotel lobby.
Day 2: Excursion Lake Candia approx. 40 km
The first excursion leads you on nice paths along river Dora Baltea to the South. Lake Candia is reached soon. You will find lovely bathing possibilities along the lake – cool down in the clear water! A longer climb (4 km) brings you to the moraine hills with great views over the surroundings. Along the royal wine route back to your hotel.
Day 3: Excursion Ivrea and its lakes approx. 50 km
You cycle through meadows and fields to Ivrea. The river Dora Baltea is very deep in the river bed. Because of that you will have great views along the way. After a break in the medieval centre you go on to two mountain lakes nearby. The romantic lakes invite for a swim. Your way back is along the old Franciscan route, which the friars used as an important pilgrims route to Rome.
Day 4: Excursion to Turin and river Po approx. 60 km
By train to the capital Turin. The big Piazza Vittorio Veneto is not the only impressing sight of this lively town. A nice cycle path brings you back to the north. We ecommend a break in Chiavasso. The small town on river Po reflects with its sidewalk cafes the typical Italian lifestyle. On your way back you pass Castello Mazze.
Day 5: Excursion to Lake Viverone approx. 40 km
Sporty cyclists can visit the impressive Castello of Masino at the beginning (very steep ascent of about 2 km). If you prefer the more comfortable way, follow the route over gentle hills, through small villages with historic churches and small castles. You find good bathing possibilities at the promenade of Viverone. You cycle through agriculture with peaches, wine and kiwis.
Day 6: Moraine hills approx. 35 km
Today’s stage leads you through cornfields at first to Castello Pavone. After a short climb you have reached the moraine hills. Wonderful views compensate the small ascent on your way! Castles are guarding the cycle route along the royal wine route. After a downhill you are coming back to your hotel the last time.
Day 7: Departure after breakfast

Tour level

This tour has flat and slightly hilly stages. Every day you have to manage one or two short ascents. There is one bigger climb with about 4 km on the tour. You cycle most of the time on side roads, parts on cycle paths with mainly asphalted streets. In the cities you cycle on roads with traffic.
