In the land of Cavalry Piedmont - Italy

You start from Turin , the smart and noble Savoy capital and crossing the famous and romantic river park called “Valentino” you follow in green open spaces the course of the Po , the longer river in Italy ; in short you reach the marvelous Savoy residence of Stupinigi, one of the masterpieces of baroque style, built by the great architect Filippo Juvarra. Cycling on quiet country roads and cycle routes you come to Pinerolo and Racconigi, discovering the area that lies to the south of Turin , a part of Piedmont particularly rich in natural resources, history and culture.   

1st day  Individual arrival in Turin, short round trip in the centre; overnight in town
In Turin, first capital of Italy, don’t miss the ruins testifying its roman origin, the historical baroque centre in French style, the iron tower “Mole Antonelliana”, symbol of the town and at present seat of the impressive National Museum of Cinema, the important Egyption Museum -it’s the second in the world-, and before leaving we recommend you to taste some of its delicious chocolate sweets!

2nd day  Torino-Stupinigi-Pinerolo  -  about 40 km
Cycling along the river Po and its affluent Sangone you come to the hunting residence of Stupinigi and its park. After the visit, following a quiet “ciclostrada” you reach Pinerolo, a small but delicious town, former residence of the most important cavalry school in Italy (it is possible to visit the Museum). It is interesting also the historical centre of Pinerolo.

3rd day Pinerolo -Cavour-Racconigi   -  about 60 km
Today you reach Cavour with its “Rocca”, an alluvial hill 200 meters high -you can reach the top by foot- in the middle of the plain; In Racconigi you can visit the residence of the Savoia-Carignano dynasty; this castle is surrounded by a wonderful park; don’t miss also the interesting historical centre of the village;

4th day Racconigi-Moncalieri-Torino  -  about km 45
Cycling along the Po inside the beautiful river park, you come to Moncalieri with its castle, another Savoy residence. At last, always along the Po , you reach Turin . If you aren’t too tired, we recommend you to give your farewell to the town with a short tour through the centre by night discovering its particular charm, and its mysterious face .

5th day Individual departure from Turin

 Easy; some dirt patches in fairly good conditions
