Via Appia Antica    from Rome to Bari

An extraordinary tour starting from Roma “caput mundi”. Only cycling you could discovery secret corners, archeological beauties, squares, fontains, baroque-churches. The itinerary follows in good part the ancient “Appia Antica”, one of the most important roman roads , connecting Rome to Brindisi. Left Rome in a sweet landscape of hills, up and down you get to Palestrina, medieval village, then trough the area called “Ciociaria” you go on toward Montecassino abbey; Caserta with its marvellous Reggia built by Vanvitelli; Benevento, ancient pre-roman town; then you cross the border between Campania  and Puglia discovering the charm of this region with its quiet villages among olive trees and baroque churches like the cathedral of Trani. Finally, at the end of the tour, the vision of the Adriatic sea for a long stretch between Barletta and Bari, where you can’t miss the visit of the fascinating historical centre around the port. 

1st day: individual arrive to Rome
2nd day: Rome - Palestrina  km 45 ca
3rd day: Palestrina - Fiuggi - Frosinone km 65 ca
4th day: Frosinone - Cassino -   km 57 ca  ; Cassino - Caserta by train
5th day: Caserta - Benevento  km 50 ca
6th day: Benevento  - Ariano Irpino; km 42 ca
7th day: Ariano Irpino – Foggia   km 65 ca; Foggia - Barletta by train  
8th day: Barletta - Bari  km 62 ca
9th day: Bari; end of the tour after breakfast  

The return to Roma can be by train, about 4 hours and 40 minutes

The tour run on hill in the 1^st part and it's flat from Barletta to Bari; run on minor roads and ciclepaths, also in Rome.
