Here is the Eurovelo 8 route, it's the one that starts from Tarifa in Spain and arrives in Cyprus. It crosses Northern Italy following the entire course of the Po river and arrives from France at the Tenda tunnel. Obviously, you cannot go by bike in the tunnel and the route from San Dalmas follows a quiet road and then goes on the dirt road of the hill. Finally, it descends to Limone Piemonte, from which our Piedmontese itinerary starts. For most of the route, you follow minor roads that are absolutely quiet and embankments, alternating stretches on a safe cycle path, in any case never on busy roads. Piedmont is a true paradise also for gourmets. Prestigious wines, refined dishes, delicious chocolate and sweet landscapes along the hills covered with vineyards, of a beauty no less than those of Tuscany; in the background, the magnificent circle of the Alps. Piedmont is elegance and style. The best example is the capital, Turin, the first capital of Italy; from here, in fact, 150 years ago the unification started. The influence of nearby France is very evident and for this reason Turin is called "little Paris". Its great past is evidenced by the presence of numerous royal residences located in the city and its surroundings and by prestigious museums, such as the Egyptian, cinema and automobile museums. From Turin, continue to follow the course of the Po always on a cycle path to Valenza, the goldsmith capital of Italy.
In short, discovering Piedmont by bicycle: a memorable experience!
1st day individual arrival in Limone Piemonte
2nd day Limone Piemonte – Saluzzo, 71 km by bicycle
From the mountain you descend to the plain towards Saluzzo, the medieval town perched on the hill at the foot of Monviso is a small jewel. Former capital of the homonymous marquisate, an antiques fair is held here every year, an activity for which it is renowned.

4th day Carignano – Turin, 37 km by bicycle
Still flat along the river. Turin will surprise you with its discreet and elegant style, for the French atmosphere of its cafes and some of its squares, for the incredible amount of parks and gardens, at the foot of a green hill. The city is crossed by four rivers and rich in cycle paths and pedestrian areas full of beautiful bars and shops.
5th day Turin – Crescentino, 60 km by bicycle
You leave Turin along the river in an easterly direction; once in Chivasso, follow the Cavour canal for a short stretch, which originates here from the Po, and in a short time you find yourself in the middle of the rice fields of Crescentino, in a typical rural landscape, splendid in the month of May, when the rice fields are covered with water.
6th day Crescentino – Valenza, 63 km by bicycle
Continue through rice fields and enchanting glimpses of the Po up to Casale, a lively and pretty town, the gateway to Monferrato, a land of wines and good cuisine, and then reach the surroundings of Valenza, the most important center of goldsmith art in Piedmont.
